Fans of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against ticket resale platform StubHub, alleging they paid for tickets that were never delivered. The lawsuit was filed on 1 July 2026 in a federal court in Manhattan.

According to the complaint, StubHub canceled many tickets shortly before matches and failed to provide promised replacement tickets. Fans say they incurred significant costs for travel and accommodation, only to be left without entry. “Fans did not get what they paid for, were misled, and suffered enormous financial losses,” the lawsuit states. It seeks at least $5 million in damages for thousands of affected U.S. customers, citing violations of consumer protection laws and false advertising.

StubHub declined to comment on the litigation but noted its “FanProtect” guarantee, which promises replacement tickets or a full refund if issues arise. The lawsuit describes the situation as “a new low for the sports ticket industry.”
